What you’ll need
- Kaleo Professional Standard Iron or Kaleo Professional Wide Iron
- Kaleo Brush or Comb
- Kaleo Sectioning Clips
- Heat protectant
- A playlist of your choosing
Optional
- Hairspray
How-to get the look
- Plug in and turn on your iron, then set it to the ideal temperature for your hair. See our guide below for more details
- Brush your hair from ends to roots – this is gentler on your hair and helps to brush out knots easier
- Apply heat protectant and comb through to ensure it’s evenly distributed
- Divide your hair into sections. Use Kaleo Sectioning Clips to secure the top section of your hair and work with the bottom section first
- Take a small section of hair (3-4cm) and place between your iron, clamping down close to the root.
- Twist the iron away from your face, turning the iron almost 360° backwards (nearly a full circle) so that the strand of hair is wrapped around the outside of the straightening plate. Continue to glide through to the ends of your hair.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 until your entire head of hair is curled - Once all sections of hair are cooled, gently comb or brush through your hair to blend the curls
Styling notes from our Kaleo Collective
The direction of the curl is determined by the direction you twist the iron:
- Curls facing the same direct – twist them all away from your face
- More ‘undone’ everyday – alternate between twisting away from the face and towards the face for each hair section
Wait for your curls to cool down before brushing them out:
- If you would like voluminous curls, use a brush
- If you would like beachy, broken up curls, use a comb
