How to Nail Face-Framing Hair

Highlight what you love and style it with ease

Bringing out your individual beauty is all about showing off what you love and maybe even learning to embrace the things you’ve previously tried to cover up. We are here to teach you how to highlight and embrace your individual beauty with face framing!

When it comes to face framing, different shaped faces will experience it differently and depending on where you begin the face frame, different features will be noticeable. For example, if you begin your face framing at eye level, this will open up your eyes. If you start a little lower, this will highlight your cheekbones or show off your freckles a little more.

The best thing about face framing with a hot tool versus a haircut is that you have the ongoing ability to change where you place the frame. So shape up beauty, it’s time to show off those cheek bones, delight in your beautiful freckles and let your face framing take over the world (or at the very least, your errands).

What you will need

How to get the look

  1. Spray your hair with heat protectant and comb through – this helps ensure every strand is covered and there are no knots in your hair
  2. Next, pick up the front piece of hair in one hand and place the curling iron on top of your hair, making sure it is positioned at the top of your head, as close to the root as you can get it
  3. Wrap your hair around the curling iron away from your face as many times as possible
  4. Hold the curling around for 10-15 seconds, then remove curling tong. To help loosen the curl, you may choose to gently pull on the ends
  5. If using your Kaleo Iron, still pick up a front piece of hair in one hand and straighten down from the root all the way down to your eyebrow, then twist out and away from the face, curling your hair as usual
  6. Once the curls around your face have cooled, you can comb or brush them out to match the rest of your hair

Styling notes from our Kaleo Collective

  • You could spray your face framing pieces with hairspray before you curl
  • If you aren’t happy with your first attempt, wait until the entire section is completely cool before trying again

There you have it, a face framed curl that helps to accentuate and show off your beautiful eyes, cheeks and smile. The key is to always twist or wrap your hair away from the face and not inwards!
Face framing takes time and practice, so enjoy it. One day you’ll look back and wonder why you didn’t start sooner.
