How To Curl Hair with a Curling Tong

It’s time for effortless curls

Picture this, you’ve seen thousands of people curl their hair on Tik Tok and Instagram. You might even be thinking to yourself “I’ll never be able to do that”. You tried once, burnt your ear and swore to never ever try again… Well, grab your Kaleo Curling Tong my friend because now is the time to learn how to curl your hair – and I promise it’s not as tricky as it seems.

Whether you’re after an effortless, everyday look, something for a special occasion or just want your party trick to be ‘can curl my own hair’, then follow along as we take you through simple steps to achieve bouncy curls that last all day.

What you will need

  • Kaleo Curling Tong
  • Heat Protectant
  • Kaleo Brush or Comb
  • Kaleo Sectioning Clips
  • A playlist of your choosing

Optional

  • Hairspray

How to get the look

  1. Plug in and turn on your curling iron, then set it to the ideal temperature for your hair. See our guide below for more details
  2. Apply a heat protectant, and comb through with your Wide Tooth Comb
  3. Divide your hair into sections. Use Kaleo Sectioning Clips to secure the top section of your hair and work with the bottom section first
  4. Take a small to medium section of hair – depending on how thick your hair is and how you like your curls to hold
  5. The smaller the section, the tighter the curl. The larger the section, the looser the curl
  6. Holding the base of the curler (closest to your hand) near your root, begin wrapping the hair around the Curling Tong or if using the clip, open clamp and begin wrapping hair around and inside. Hold for ten seconds then release
  7. Continue steps 4 & 5 until all your entire hair has been curled
  8. Spray hair with hairspray (optional)
  9. Once all curls have cooled down then you can brush or comb out. Remember to begin brushing towards the ends of your hair, not to root!
