How to Get Poker Straight Hair

Poker Straight is one of our favourite, go-to styles for sophistication and controlled hair. Those of us who were born with (lion) mane hair, watch on in idolisation as our pals with soft, silky, straight hair walk around. Thankfully, there are some steps you can take to go from frizz to fab if poker straight is part of your hair game.

What you will need

• Kaleo Dryer
• Kaleo Professional Iron
  Standard or Wide depending on your hair thickness
• Heat Protectant
• Kaleo Brush or Comb
• A playlist of your choosing

• Hairspray

How-to get the look

1. For the best results, begin with freshly washed hair, then use our Kaleo Microfiber Wrap to dry off
2. Next, apply a smoothing heat protectant from your mids to your ends
3. Brush your hair from ends to roots – this is gentler on your hair and helps to brush out knots easier
4. Divide your hair into sections. Use Kaleo Sectioning Clips to secure the top section of your hair and work with the bottom section first
5. Begin blow drying your hair straight with the Kaleo Dryer
   Remember to keep the angle of the dryer with the nozzle facing down the length of the hair. This is so that the air can run down the direction of the hair, ensuring a smoother finish
   Continue steps 3 & 4 until your hair is completely dry
6. Divide your hair into sections again, leaving the bottom section free to begin styling first
7. Taking a sub section of hair, pull the length of your hair tight and begin straightening from the root to ends.
   Pulling your hair straight while you are straightening helps to create tension and will likely mean you have less repeat straightening – resulting in less damage
8. Repeat steps 5 & 6 all the way around until your hair is complete and you have the desired poker straight look
9. Finish off with a light dusting of hairspray all over

• Depending on the weather, you may find flyaways are imminent. Our tip is to spray your hands with hairspray and lightly smooth down your hair
